Start a Project in the Right Place
==================================

The Gitlab groups are structured into subgroups that correspond to the `Research Groups of SWW <https://www.eawag.ch/en/abteilung/sww/organisation/>`_ or the `Research Groups of ENG <https://www.eawag.ch/en/abteilung/eng/organisation/>`_.

Your project will be located in the subgroup that corresponds to your responsible group leader. Of course, if another location makes more sense, this structure is flexible. There is also the possibility to create subgroups within the research group if you need several repositories.

Also, think of a good descriptive name for your project.

✅ **Recommended:**

1. Contact your admin and tell them the location and name of your project.
2. The admin will create an empty repo and assign you the right permissions.

❌ **Not Recommended (mentioned for awareness):**

- You can create a repositories in your account under "personal projects"
- However, projects in your account won't be available once you leave Eawag.
- If you already have a project in your account, contact your admin to transfer it to the SWW or ENG group.
